Quinta da Vida Beleza
Canada das Mercês, 47
Lagoa 9560-404
São Miguel, Açores
Located a short 17-minute drive from PDL airport by the highway and a 15-minute drive from Ponta Delgada, the Quinta is easy to get to. The Lagoa and other buses stop down the street at the end of Rua das Mercês on the main road. Walking and hitchhiking are also options. The North Coast advanced surf beaches of Santa Barbara and Monte Verde are a 10-minute drive away, while less experienced surfers can go to Milicias & Pópulo’s black sand beaches. Furnas is 45-minute drive to the east and the Caldeira Velha and Termas das Caldeiras are a short 17-minute drive north and to the east.
Within easy walking distance are the Calhau sweet lava rock-protected natural ocean pools where you can still soak, snorkel and swim when the waves get big. The larger multiple natural pools complex in Lagoa is a 20-minute walk along the coastal walking/bike path to the east, passing the unique Earthquake/Volcano Museum and the best most affordable fish restaurant on the island, Borda D’Agua, at the port.
In the other direction you can walk, bike or drive the 3km to Pópulo and Milicias beaches to relax, swim, play volleyball or beach tennis, run/walk and of course swim and surf. Several good Azorean-style restaurants are found right on the coast here. We are really blessed with the Azorean ocean waters, always a great temperature and each day different conditions.
